Massimiliano Carliniformer Juve Stabia and Catanzaro striker, in an interview with TuttoC talks about the disappointments of this third series group C: “Catania for sure, but in my opinion the real Catania was from January onwards when it made six important additions. At the start of the championship they had built a good squad but I would have bet on Avellino and Benevento. I expected something more from Crotone especially when it seemed they could get Juve Stabia back before an inexplicable collapse.
The ranking reflects what was done in the summer. Second is Avellino, third is Benevento but it was Juve Stabia that made the difference.”
Then on the current playoff formula: “I’ve always been against this format, it penalizes those who finish ahead during the championship. Yes, they enter with fewer rounds but it’s not easy to stay still for three weeks. Facing teams that have already played two- three games and you don’t have a big advantage and you can find yourself going out with a team that finished ninth and got half the points, the playoffs are one-off games and it matters who gets there best.”
