Driving a Mercedes Class A, without inspection, a 47-year-old hit a 70-year-old man who was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. The accident occurred shortly after 11am today, Wednesday 24 April, at the intersection of Corso Europa and Via Lainate, near the Sanctuary of Addolorata in Rho. Two patrols and one from the Carabinieri intervened on site, as well as emergency vehicles.

The victim, violently hit by the car, suffered head injuries and several bruises. He was immediately rescued and transported under yellow code to Legnano hospitalwhere he is currently being treated for his injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes (pictured), resident in the Milanese hinterland, was already known to the police, as he has numerous violations for drug use and crimes against property and persons. Currently unemployed, the man was found in possession of three upholstery cutters hidden in the door and dashboard drawers of his car, a detail which raised further suspicions about his conduct. Furthermore, the 47-year-old avoided having his vehicle inspected twice in a row, thus further putting public safety at risk.

The local police of Rho, coordinated by commander Antonino Frisone, is currently engaged in investigating the case. The driver was reported for possession of offensive tools and further investigations are underway to clarify the facts.
