TURIN DEFEAT IN RACE 1

TURIN DEFEAT IN GAME 1, TRIESTE WINS AND TAKES THE FIELD FACTOR
Reale Mutua Torino’s playoff journey didn’t start off in the best way, losing in Game 1 of the quarter-finals against Pallacanestro Trieste. The Julian team moves on to Pala GianniAsti in the first act of the series and thus steals the home advantage from coach Ciani’s team.
After an initial period led by the guests, Torino reacted by taking the lead led by its veterans, but in the second half of the match the depth and physicality of coach Christian’s team made the difference. Next appointment in two days, Tuesday 7 May at 8.30pm always at
Pala Gianni Asti, with Reale Mutua taking to the field to bring the series back into balance.
Coach Ciani decides to leave with Vencato, Kennedy, De Vico, Thomas and Poser. Coach Christian responds with Ruzzier, Brooks, Reyes, Candussi and Vildera.
Trieste starts strong hitting from long range with Reyes, Brooks and Candussi, Turin instead attacks the paint and finds the first points with Thomas and De Vico (4-9 after the first two minutes). Thomas scores from three but Trieste continues to grind out points especially from the arc, reaching +12 in an amen (7-19
at 4′), with coach Ciani calling the first timeout of the match. Reale Mutua slowly tries to get back into the game with Poser and Vencato to get back to -7 (16-23), but Trieste responds with Vildera and Bossi to get back to a double-digit lead at the end of the first quarter (18-28).
The second half begins with a great reaction from Turin: driven by Pepe and De Vico, Turin raises the intensity and scores the partial to forcefully take the lead (33-30), charging the home crowd. Coach Christian is forced to call timeout to somehow slow down the yellow-blue avalanche,
Reyes brings the score back into balance and then Brooks scores a triple for Trieste’s new lead at 36-39 in the 17th minute. Giuliano’s response was partial with Turin’s Reale Mutua who in turn put their noses back ahead with a triple from Thomas, then a nice high-low between Schina and Poser closed the first half of
game at 45-41.
The first minutes of the second half passed with Torino keeping their concentration high to protect their lead. Poser scores in the paint and a defensive stop launches De Vico on the counterattack for the Gialloblù’s maximum advantage at +8 (56-48). De Vico finds the bottom of the net again from long range
distance, Brooks responds with penetration and it is 59-52 halfway through the third quarter. Trieste still relies on Brooks who continues to find points at the rim in traffic for the Julian -1 (60-59). A bad turnover allows Filloy to score the triple that closes the third quarter with Trieste leading 62-64.
First four minutes of the fourth quarter with both teams seeming to lose fluidity in attack, with only four points on the scoresheet (by Trieste) for 62-68 with 6′ to go. CoachCiani calls timeout to shake up Turin’s game. Pepe pulls the rabbit out of the hat with a contested triple off the dribble for -3, but Reyes responds in turn from long range.
Thomas works on attacking rebounds and brings his team back to -2 (69-71 with 4′ to go). Trieste uses the bonus to gain a few more points from the line (69-75 with 3′ left). Thomas continues to clean up the yellow and blue errors by converting another offensive rebound for -4. Ruzzier finds a basket in traffic for the new +6 with two minutes remaining. Turin is unable to respond, Filloy scores the triple which puts the result of Game 1 in the safe for Trieste. It ends 76-83
