A 64 years old resident in Bovezzo (in the province of Brescia) got on a train yesterday morning, Monday 22 April Intercity and headed to Rimini. Once he arrived in the Romagna seaside city, he showed up at the Destra del Porto carabinieri barracks and turned himself in: “I have just escaped from house arrest”, he told the soldiers, “I would like to be detained here because I inquired and discovered that it has been renovated three times over the years”. Arrested, the Rimini judge Margherita Brunelli ordered the 64-year-old home detention again in Bovezzo and postponed the hearing to June 11th.

The escape from Bovezzo and the journey to Rimini

According to what has been reconstructed, the 64-year-old is 100 percent civil invalid and is followed by the neuropsychiatry service of Bovezzo. With a long list of police records behind him, last December he was arrested following one armed robbery carried out at the Brescia post office.

On the morning of April 22, the 64-year-old has abandoned his home of Bovezzo and got on an Intercity train headed to Rimini. After walking along Viale Principe Amedeo, he knocked on the carabinieri barracks on Destra del Porto: “Good evening, I would like to turn myself in“, the man began, explaining his situation.

“I would like to stay in Rimini prison, my friends are there”

The military arrested him and this morning, April 23, he appeared before the judge Margherita Brunelli, for the direct route. Assisted by lawyer Angelica Iannone, the 64-year-old said that since he was ill, the air of a seaside city would be good for him. “I was on holiday in Riccione and Misano”, he then added, “I would like to stay in the Rimini prison where my friends are there too“.

The arrest for escape was validated and the judge again ordered the 64-year-old to be placed under house arrest in Bovezzo. Granted the terms for the defense, the new hearing will be held on June 11th.
