With the signature of the institutional representatives, the Memorandum of Understanding was confirmed this morning with which the operation of the “Help desk for reception, listening and assistance in favor of the so-called weaker sections of the population and the victims of gender violence”. The Dr. Fernando Asaro (Prosecutor of the Republic), Dr. Calogero Roberto Piscitello (Area D coordinator – vulnerable groups), the Hon. Massimo Grillo (mayor) and Dr. Francesca Parrinello (“Casa di Venere”) have agreed on the methods of carrying out the service which is hosted in the premises of the Court, in a dedicated area made available by the Prosecutor’s Office, which is entrusted with the service coordination. The management of the “Anti-Violence Help Desk” is entrusted to the “Casa di Venere” Association, a non-profit organization made up of people with adequate skills in the sector of assistance to victims of gender violence. The operators – according to their professionalism – will offer free legal, health and psychological advice to anyone who requests it. The Grillo Administration, for its part, encourages collaboration between the “Sportello” and the municipal welfare network, also engaging in awareness-raising activities in the area. Furthermore, the Municipality has already set up a toll-free number (800 300 006) dedicated to those who – in case of emergency – need initial contact with the operators of the aforementioned Association, capable of providing initial assistance. Finally, the municipal administration has already furnished a room in the prosecutor’s office intended for protected hearings of minors and vulnerable victims, in order to make them feel at ease when they are called upon to make statements to the authorities.
