Driving licence, in Abruzzo 4 out of 10 fail the theory exam in 2023 – Notizie d’Abruzzo

In 2023, according to data from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, 39.8% of Abruzzo residents who took the theory exam to obtain the B driving license did not pass the test, a figure in line with the national average (39.9%). Among the provinces, the highest percentage of theory failures is recorded in L’Aquila (43.4%), followed by Teramo (41.2%), Pescara (38.9%) and Chieti (35.8%) . The data is provided by AutoScout24, which also conducted a simulation to verify what would happen if Abruzzo motorists who held their license more than 5 years ago repeated the exam today. From the simulation, conducted by AutoScout24 and Egaf edizioni, together with the major Italian driving school associations Confarca and Unasca, only 18.6% of Abruzzo residents today would pass the exam fully (the national average is 22.3%), a given that it highlights the importance of carrying out constant updates even after obtaining the driving licence, given the continuous changes to the highway code that have occurred in recent years. This is not a complete failure, given that the sample of Abruzzo citizens answered correctly on average 15 questions out of 20. Among the most common errors are the quizzes on signs and warning lights.

If 92% of Abruzzo residents passed the driving license exam in 2023, among the major critical issues for candidates during the road driving tests that led to their failure are intersections, public transport stops and roundabouts which flow away the traffic from the main lane and the parking lots.
