From Ravenna to the hypermarket for a 1,700 euro robbery: 4 arrested

It would have been afeat of criminal illusionists: pass a trolley with goods in front of the checkouts 1769.47 euros without paying anything. And they almost succeeded 5 nomads arrived from the province of Ravenna to raid the Seriate hypermarket. Except that the video surveillance workers had noticed them from the monitors and had become suspicious of the carelessness with which they filled the trolley, something that – with today’s tight family budgets – very few people are allowed to do. And so they alerted the Carabinieri of the Seriate tenancy, who kept an eye on them and managed to prevent the theft, forcing the group to abandon the trolley in the shopping center gallery.

4 ended up in handcuffs for aggravated theft

They are two couples: a 28-year-old and his 26-year-old partner; a 25-year-old and his 27-year-old partner. The arrests were validated by judge Roberto Palermo. Which rejected the request for precautionary custody in prison invoked by the Prosecutor’s Office and applied the residence ban in Bergamo to everyone; for three people with criminal records, the obligation to report to the judicial police for three days a week was also triggered, as the defenders Benedetto Bonomo and Martin Benini had requested.

The crime was declassified in attempted theft by the judge, according to which the stolen property “never left the sphere of dominion of the offended party”, and that is, it always remained under the visual control of security personnel and policemen who were thus able to choose the most favorable moment to intervene. The fifth accomplice, the one who physically pushed the trolley out of the hypermarket, managed to escape after freeing himself from the grip of one of the security personnel.
