The investigation into the Bibbiano entrepreneur Enrico Benedetti expands. For the Reggio Emilia Prosecutor’s Office, directed by Gaetano Paci, the special collaborators of the waste collection ras, arrested on Tuesday, also held preparatory meetings in view of the decisive meetings, and they did so by offering escorts, with stripteases included. This time the case, followed by the prosecutor Biagio Mazzeo, is linked to the violation of the law on the financing of parties and politicians. It all starts from a complaint presented by the lawyer Alberto Pasta, former deputy mayor and councilor of the city of the Palio, and by a 5-star municipal councilor, the engineer Massimo Cerruti. In the complaint, the two contest the disbursements guaranteed by 12 companies (as well as three natural persons) to the mayor of Asti, Maurizio Rasero (Forza Italia), in view of the 2022 municipal elections, when the mayor replicated the mandate obtained in 2017. «With reference to the contributions received from the companies, there is no report certifying the company’s willingness to pay the contribution» is contested in the document, «nor any extract or copy of the financial statements certifying the registration of the contribution itself». Except in one case, where 10,000 euros was included among the expenditures as an act of generosity, but without a beneficiary. Pasta and Cerruti conclude: «If what is described above is true, we are in the presence of a massive and illegal case of electoral financing amounting to 33,500 euros, such as to even undermine the regularity of the electoral competition».
