The talented tennis player born in 2003 of the Palermo coach Gabriele Pirainoon the red courts of Santa Margherita di Pula, celebrates the first ITF title in the singles specialty after 4 failed finals between 2022 and 2023 (Padua, Santa Margherita, Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal and San Gregorio di Catania ).

In the match that put the victory at stake, the student of coach Paolo Cannova, historical and current coach also of Salvatore Caruso from Avola, defeated the 26-year-old Russian Kirill Kivattsev (no. 535 in the world) 7-5 6-3 in a challenge that lasted just over two hours.

The player from Palermo, this week at position number 620 (best ranking 478), will climb several positions in the ATP rankings and as early as Monday 22 April he will be at work again, again in Sardinia, for another ITF worth 25,000 dollars for which received a wild card.

On the field for 14 hours

A very demanding week from a physical and mental point of view for Piraino if we take into account the fact that the 20-year-old left-hander played for a total of 14 hours. All the matches from the 1st round to the semi-final lasted 3 hours and today’s match, Saturday 20 April, must be added to these.

Among these matches, the victory on Friday 19 April in the semi-final at the expense of the transalpine, top 300 ATP, Clement Chidehk, defeated 7-6 3-6 6-3, stands out. The Frenchman had won two ITF tournaments and one Challenger circuit event during the season.

The tennis player from the Serie A1 team of the Palermo club has only been followed for a couple of months by Paolo Cannova, after the very long and still fruitful collaboration with Davide Cocco, while the athletic part is still taken care of by Piero Intile.
