BUSTO ARSIZIO – Around a hundred participants in the pro-Palestine demonstration “against Zionist aggression, against the genocide of the Palestinian people” promoted from 3pm today, Saturday 20 April, by autonomous trade unions and local associations.
Stop the genocide
The procession moved from Piazza Garibaldi to Busto Arsizio around 3.20pm. «This is yet another demonstration in support of Palestine organized in our territory – explains the trade unionist Cobas Antonio Ferrario – And they are still too few, because this is not a war it’s a genocide. It is the genocide of the Palestinian people. When faced with something like this, how can you not react? Current political choices, among other things, harm workers. The costs of the war are paid with cuts to healthcare, social services, schools and by burdening the pockets of workers. This is not a war, civilians die here, women and children are swept away without blame, something similar has not been seen since the Second World War.”
Sanctions, double standards and double standards
«We are here in Busto because this is perhaps the most important city in the area. A territory that must know and must react, we cannot remain indifferent to such a massacre – explains another Cobas trade unionist, Eugenio Busellato – Thousands of children and women (the deaths in the Gaza Strip have currently been estimated at 36 thousand) massacred in general silence. And I also look at the sanctions: Russia was sanctioned for the war on Ukraine, among other things with economic damage also in our territory for companies that had commercial relationships with Russian companies, while Israel has never been sanctioned.
