“The courage not to give up”, Raffaele Capperi’s testimony in Parabiago
Descriptive text here

On Friday 19 April, at the “R.Rancilio” school, the students of the IC “Via IV Novembre” met Raffaele Capperi, Knight of the Republic engaged in fight against bullying, influencers and author of the book “Ugly and bad. The story of the boy who saw the true face of the world.”

The second and third classes had the opportunity to listen to his story: Capers has Treacher Collins syndrome (rare disease that causes malformations of the skull bones) and, since he was a child, he was teased for his diversity linked to the deformity of his face. He was a victim of bullying and cyberbullying, but he found it in himself, in his
family and friends the courage not to give up and to redeem himself by telling his story.

Story of a boy who encountered and still encounters the wickedness of the outside world, but who decided not to remain silent, to leave his bedroom and spread, through social media and meetings in schools, a truly clear message: bullying is defeats with kindness. As Raffaele himself stated during the meeting: “No one should
rage against those who have the courage to show their diversity. Be kind.”

His testimony therefore offers an important encouragement for all those who struggle to accept themselves, who are unable to react when subjected to any form of violence; he is an incentive to come out of the shadows and act with courage and determination with the awareness that he is never alone.

A meeting, promoted thanks to the synergy between families and the school institution, with the aim of raising awareness among boys and girls about the use of social media and the weight that words have, inviting them to put themselves in others’ shoes.
