L’register of associations of the Municipality of Bitonto undergoes a clean cut. From 232, the entities that are part of it become 64, to which must be added the four whose entry was sanctioned by the highest city council in the last council session: the Legambiente club “Pino di Terlizzi”; the newly formed association “Keep Rolling Collective“, dedicated to cinema; the association “Mariotto. Territory and Society“; the national association State Police Michele Tatulli.
A job of skimming that, they say, from Gentile Palaceis preparatory to the reactivation of the consultations, as the mayor explains Francesco Paolo Ricci: «The role of associations must not be just passive, symbolic, apparent, without a concrete contribution in the life of our community. Today, with this revision, we know that we can count on 68 associations»
The screening comes twelve months after the modification of the regulation of the participation bodies, approved by the council on 30 March 2023, and the subsequent call of all the associations in the area to confirm their willingness to register.
«We ask that the register of associations be published on the institutional electronic portal of the Municipality, as required by the regulation, together with information for those who want to register and to renew their business. But we also ask for the immediate convocation of the associations, in order to establish and start the consultations» comments the majority councilor Antonella Vaccarohoping that the activities of the participation bodies will restart as soon as possible.
The opposition councilors also welcome the new register, with Carmela Rossiello (Brothers of Italy) which expresses its applause «to those who dedicate their time to non-profit social work».
«Associations are important resources for our community. But, to give them the opportunity to make their maximum contribution, the consultations provided for by the regulation must be started. Is there a certain date?» is the request of Ivan Lorusso (FdI) to Mayor Ricci, who assures that it will be his priority to convene them all.
«We are also quickly reactivating the disability consultation, considering that it is a delicate and complex matter» is the appeal of Domenico Damascelli (FdI) which follows up on a letter sent in 2023 by the association “More value”.
There are seven consultations foreseen by the municipal regulation: elderly people and health protection; environment, sustainability and territory; culture, arts and promotion of interculture; women, equal opportunities, inclusion and volunteering; sport and free time; work and productive activities; third sector; education, training and youth policies; security, civil protection and legality.
