Monica Gullo, Elisa Tamburini, Goddess Sina: these are the names of three winners of the contest open to students of the Liceo Artistico Duccio di Buoninsegna of Siena launched fromAssociation of Friends of the National Art Gallery of Siena, National Art Gallery of Siena e “Duccio di Buoninsegna” Art High Schoolwith the support of the new supporting member “RUFFOLI ART STORE”by title “Duccio for Siena…Twenty years later”.

The contest wanted to remember the twenty years anniversary of the important Sienese exhibition, “Duccio. At the origins of Sienese painting” (4/10/2003-14/03/2004) in which the Sienese artistic high school was the protagonist with the organization, at national level, of a competition of ideas for the creation of a poster.

The best works created by students, aimed at reproducing, rereading and reinterpreting the works of the great Sienese painter, they have been exhibited from 16 April to today in the Pinacoteca, and this afternoon the awards ceremony for the contest was held, which included the awarding of three prizes consisting of three vouchers to spend on study material, to be purchased at the “RUFFOLI ART STORE”.

The 1st prize, awarded to Monica Gullo, consists of a 300 euro voucher and was awarded by a Technical Committee made up of Donatella Capresi (President of the Friends of the Art Gallery Association), Axel Hémery (Director of the National Art Gallery of Siena) Giovanni Pala (Vicar Head of Section of the “Duccio di Buoninsegna” Art School).

The 2nd and 3rd prize, of 200 euros and 100 euros respectivelywent to Elisa Tamburini and Goddess Sinawas instead assigned by the popular vote collected during the days of the exhibition. A beautiful initiative that aimed to bring school children closer to the heritage of the Pinacoteca and to the discovery of Sienese art, through references to Duccio’s work.
