“The Homegrown festival – Arts and greenery in Piacenza 2024” organized by Cosmonauti Aps is scheduled at Spazio4.0 on Sunday 28 April (via Manzoni 21) and Sunday 12 May and Saturday 25 May at the Orto-Orchard of Santa Maria di Campagna (via Tramello 15). The first edition of the festival offers three days of free green-themed activities and workshops open to all citizens, alternating with musical and sharing moments.
The common thread is the discovery and enhancement of the city’s green areas, a path that passes through the use of places, knowledge and care of crops, as well as the diffusion of useful and sustainable practices. The “Homegrown” festival explores the many possibilities of contact with nature in the urban centre, from cycling through vegetable gardens and gardens to a practical agroecology lesson.
«The festival is an opportunity to bring together in a new container the participatory initiatives that our association has been carrying out for years now» underlines Giulio Merli, founding member of Cosmonauti Aps. «The objective is always to propose practical and “exportable” activities in one’s daily life, so as to actively contribute to the protection of the environment around us and to the quality of life; a virtuous system, which already today allows us to keep important biodiversity spaces alive and accessible, such as the orchard-vegetable garden of Santa Maria di Campagna. Workshops and lessons are designed to offer quality experiences and involve the widest and most transversal audience possible, thanks to the involvement of other local entities and the network that supports us”.

WHO WE ARE
The Cosmonauts Social Promotion Association was born in Piacenza in 2015 from the meeting of some social workers and farmers in the area. We promote social agriculture in urban green spaces, making use of our skills and industry experts.
WHAT DO WE DO
We collaborate with public bodies, associations, schools, companies and private entities in the implementation of projects based on respect for the environment,social inclusion of the most fragile categories and to the sharing, safeguarding and transmission of cultural and ecological heritage of our territory.
We organize activities, seminars and practical workshops open to citizens aimed at exploring all green issues – from the knowledge and care of plants to the construction of sustainable tools – with the aim of disseminating useful practices for the population and improving the quality of life in city.
