On the occasion of the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation, the Municipality of Cremona, in collaboration with the Liberation Constitution Committee (National Association of Italian Partisans, National Association of Christian Partisans of Cremona, National Association of Acqui Division – Cremona Section) has prepared the program for the celebration of April 25th.
At 9, at the Civic Cemetery, event in memory of the Fallen, with outdoor mass, at the Fallen Chapel. At the end of the mass, accompanied by the trumpeter of the “Città di Cremona” band complex, a procession will form, preceded by the banners of the Municipality and Province of Cremona, which will parade inside the cemetery to pay homage to those who gave their lives for the defense of freedom with a stop and laying of laurel wreaths and flowers at the Chapel of the Civilian Fallen, at the Chapel of the Brothers of God, to the commemorative monuments of the sold victims murdered in Kefalonia and Corfu, of those fallen for the Resistance, at the Altare della Patria and on the grave of Mario Coppetti.
At 10.15am, from the small square in front of the church of San Luca, will leave on procession which will parade along the following route: Corso Garibaldi, Corso Campi, Via Verdi, Piazza Stradivari, Via Baldesio to finally reach Piazza del Comune. The procession will be preceded by the “Città di Cremona” Band Complex.
The ceremony in Piazza del Comune will begin at 11am with the interventions of two students, by Giovanni Gagliardi, vice president of the Province of Cremona e Franco Verdi for the partisan associations of Cremona. Mayor Gianluca Galimberti will conclude the series of speeches.
This will be followed by the laying of wreaths on the gravestone of the Fallen for Freedom, on the CVL Gold Medal (Freedom Volunteer Corps) plaque in Cortile Federico II and on the plaque dedicated to the Cremonese Women of the Resistance. The ceremony will end in front of the painting with the photos of all the fallen members of the Cremonese Resistance. At the end, performances of musical pieces by the “Città di Cremona” Band Complex.
At 12 in the Painting Room of the Town Hall will be delivered scholarships of the Resistance
HERE IS THE LIST OF THE AWARDS
For Liberation Day laurel wreaths they will be placed in various areas of the city, in particular in via Ghinaglia (tower of the former castle of S. Croce), at the small temple of the Risen Christ, located next to the church of San Luca, in via Manini, between via della Colomba and via Ettore Sacchi under the plaque commemorating Giuseppe Robolotti.
April 27th a ceremony will be held in memory of Martyrs of Bagnara organized by the Social Center for the elderly of Bagnara in collaboration with the Municipality of Cremona, ANPI, ANPC, ANDA, Cremona Fire Brigade, AUP – Associazione Unitaria Pensioners. The program will start at 10am with mass at the small church of the Santo Volto in Bagnara. Councilor Luca Burgazzi will speak for the Municipality. The commemoration will end with a musical moment by the students of the “C. Monteverdi”.
Like every year on 27 April, in Bagnara, we remember the massacre of the four firefighters and two partisans carried out at the hands of a team of Nazis from the SS on 27 April 1945 near the building of the former schools which was then a detachment of the Fire Brigade. The victims were Domenico Agazzi (35 years old), Guido Azzali (39 years old), Odoardo Cerani (42 years old) and Luigi Rusinenti (19 years old) and the two civilians Giovanni Vaiani (52 years old) and Ivan Mondani (16 years old).
