The sixteenth edition of the regional Under 19 5-a-side football championship, up for grabs in the final match on the parquet of the “PalaSparti” in Lamezia Terme between Futsal Fortuna and Polistena C5, marks the second final in the history of the Catanzaro team, the first ever for that of the Plain.
Yet another occasion in which the provinces of Catanzaro and Reggio Calabria will be represented, twelve triumphs for the Reggio Calabria clubs, only three for the Catanzaro teams, the last of the Black Panthers last season against Gallinese. The Futsal Fortuna team from Catanzaro won group C with nine successes in ten matches, scoring 94 goals and conceding 18, before eliminating Amantea Futsal (19-2) and Città di Fiore (7-2) in the quarter-finals (full points in the triangular) and the Italian vice champions of the Black Panthers in the semi-final (6-7; 6-4); Polistena C5, on the other hand, won group E with nine victories in ten matches, scoring 90 times and conceding 31; in the triangular quarterfinals the successes against Icierre Lamezia (9-1) and Olimpia 2000 (7-1) and in the semi-final against Nausicaa, beating them 8-5 at home, but losing 6-4 at Sant’Andrea Apostolo dello Ionio. The match will be refereed by Domenico Massaria from the Vibo Valentia section and Domenico Mancari from the Lamezia Terme section.
