“Fridays for Future”, the climate march in Trieste

TRIESTE A small wave against climate change is also breaking out in Trieste. In Piazza della Borsa, the Fridays for Future movement demonstrated, together with 27 other Italian cities, with a procession in favor of climate justice and against discrimination and social injustices.

A few dozen people, around 45, in our city, participated in the demonstration, holding placards and showing off banners representing their ecological and social messages.

Among the participants were mostly university students, both from Trieste and abroad, but also people who were no longer very young and even a group from nearby Slovenia – Climate Justice Slovenia – demonstrating the fact that this is a globally felt and shared theme.

Pietro Prizzi, protester, declared “we are here to fight for our future and take it back into our hands”.

And it is precisely the “future” that was the common thread that united the most varied ideals brought by the different associations and individuals who decided to join.

Before the departure of the procession, space was left for the representatives of some associations present to be able to spread, with the sound of a megaphone, the ideal that they decided to bring to the streets, the theme of peace and dissent on the reallocation of funds in in favor of the purchase of weapons, plant-based nutrition was promoted – brought by Animal Rebellion -, and the importance of the reception service and first aid for migrants coming from the Balkan route was cited.
