Wedge will host the fifth edition of the Conference of the International Network of Michelin Cities (INMC). The candidacy presented to the world public was welcomed with great interest Anderson (USA)by the vice-mayor Luca Eveningby the mobility councilor Luca Pellegrino and by the mobility manager of the Municipality of Cuneo Massimiliano Galli. Local administrators, experts and stakeholders gathered in the South Carolina city from 16 to 18 April for the fourth INMC Conference which had as its theme “The engines of economic development. Encourage innovation and creativity to take a leading role in the transition towards sustainable development”.
Born in 2014 to strengthen the international exchanges that exist between the cities where Michelin factories are located, the network aims to encourage shared reflection and experimentation to build cities capable of responding to challenges, through the involvement of the various local, institutional, economic, academic, cultural, associative.
Today, 23 cities in Europe, America, Canada and Japan are part of the network.
Hosting the work of the INMC Conference means hosting for four days a global event on themes and challenges that concern cities today: sustainability, mobility, services, economic development, innovation, culture… . The themes are addressed through interventions by great experts, with workshops, exchanges of good practices, visits to pilot experiences in the area. The work program is defined by the host city in collaboration with the general secretariat of the association based in Clermont-Ferrand (France).
“We are very happy to have managed to have the application accepted, which is a great opportunity for Cuneo”, they say the deputy mayor Serale and the councilor Pellegrino. “We presented it convinced that, by hosting the international conference, Cuneo has a lot to offer and show to the other cities of the network and at the same time can receive a lot through the style of sharing and exchange of good practices that animates the cities that they are part of the Network. Cuneo is often criticized for remaining in its shadow. By welcoming the international meeting in 2026, but also during the preparation process for that event, we will highlight the vitality of our territory and this will certainly have positive and virtuous consequences on many aspects of city life”.
Satisfaction was also expressed by mayor Patrizia Manassero: “I believe that every opportunity for wide-ranging discussion can be precious and enriching for the city. The Network works a lot on issues that Cuneo also deals with on a daily basis. Hosting the Conference in 2026 will be a stimulus and will also be an opportunity to make our city known in an international context”.
