L’AQUILA – The Panathlon Club L’Aquila held the traditional convivial event on 18 April in the “Arcobaleno” restaurant of the sports complex of the same name. The evening was dedicated to basketball and had guests of honor Roberto And Paolo Nardecchia, respectively president and technical director of Nuovo Basket L’Aquilano and Roberto Ciuffini, team manager of the same Company.
At the beginning of the evening, the authentic achievement of L’Aquila Rugby was remembered, which on 23 April 1994 won the fifth championship in its history in Padua, against all predictions, at the end of a match where heart, determination, team spirit and the warmth of an entire city got the better of their highly favored opponents. In this regard, the President of Panathlon Natalino Benedetti announced that he had received an invitation to participate in the events scheduled for next week, an invitation extended to all members. Returning to basketball, the initiatives carried out by Nuovo Basket L’Aquilano were highlighted, in particular in the immediate post-earthquake period, aimed at social re-aggregation, tolerance, respect for the rules and opponents, values specific to Panathlon, initiatives which contributed in decisive way to avoid the abandonment of the city.
The President Roberto Nardecchia then illustrated the Palmares, the championships and the activities they carry out and which see over 300 young athletes on the pitch who are the basis that has led the Club to reach the interregional Serie B after 30 years and it is only news a few days ago the confirmation occurred in that series. He then illustrated how the construction of the “PalaAngeli” was achieved and how this structure is now a little narrow due to the development that the Club has had in recent years and for an inter-regional Serie B.
The sports director Paolo Nardecchia highlighted the fundamental and educational principles of sport, the importance of educating parents on these values too and of having an elite team that drives the whole movement while the team manager Roberto Ciuffini represented the importance and the delicacy of the connection between clubs, coaches, athletes and parents. At the end of the evening, the news of the Under 19 Gold Abruzzo Championship victory in Chieti 84-59 was learned “live” and was greeted with long applause. With this victory, the boys of Nuovo Basket L’Aquilano became regional champions for 2024, repeating the title they won last year and will enter the inter-regional phases for access to the National Final.
