Focus on the creation of a fire detection system to stop railway traffic
The coordination meeting for the construction of a fire detection system, aimed at automatically stopping the movement of trains, inside the API refinery plant in Falconara marittima, took place yesterday at the prefecture of Ancona.
A system, unique in Italy, for manually stopping railway traffic is currently in operation at the API plant.
The initiative examined instead aims to create a tool for detecting and sending an automatic alarm, with safe stopping of railway traffic in the event of emergency situations inside the refinery, in line with the requirements expressed by the National Agency for Safety Railways and Road and Motorway Infrastructures (ANSFISA).
The innovative system constitutes a cutting-edge safety measure in Italy and, with its implementation, the External Emergency Plan of the API refinery plant will be updated – at the Prefecture Coordination Table.
