Northern area, asphalt patches are not enough – Teramo

GIULIANOVA. The potholes in via Riva del sole were fixed after reports from residents, but critical issues still persist: citizens are asking the Municipality for structural interventions. This was reported by the “Giulianova north zone” neighborhood committee through the president Antonio Macera: «In recent days, an emergency intervention was carried out by the Municipality to plug the numerous and deep potholes that dotted Via Riva del Sole. The reports, reiterated by this citizen committee, had their effect, leading to a patching operation that made the road safer for pedestrians and cyclists who frequent it assiduously; however it is not enough.” For the civic committee of the northern area, «this intervention cannot make us forget the promises still unfulfilled by the mayor Jwan Costantini and the councilor for public works Giampiero Di Candido». In particular, President Macera refers to the resurfacing of the road surface, which residents are still awaiting: «These are works of fundamental importance for an area that has been excluded from any maintenance for years: we have been assured», underlines Macera, «that in on the occasion of the definition of the administrative surplus, the body would have foreseen an intervention to resurface the asphalt”.
The neighborhood committee also reports that it is still pitch dark on the stretch of road that connects Via Riva del Sole to the cycle path: “An absence of lighting that exposes users to serious dangers.” Finally Macera returns to talk about the safety of the Salinello river. Months ago, the northern area committee had publicly expressed concern that the funds allocated by the Region for the removal of vegetation in the final stretch of the river could be diverted elsewhere. «To date», concludes Macera, «the interventions planned between October and November 2023, as reported by the then undersecretary of the regional council D’Annuntiis, have not been carried out, leaving the river in a state of degradation and danger for citizens and economic activities in the area”. The civic committee asks the mayor to verify the situation and urge the Region and the Civil Engineering of Teramo to act urgently.
