Grosseto: “When tango meets jazz”: Saturday 20 April at 5pm a journey into music with Samuele Luti and Michele Makarovic. The review “The concerts of the Grosseto Cultura Foundation” returns with a new appointment in the “Carlo Cavalieri” auditorium of the “Palmiero Giannetti” municipal musical institute in via Bulgaria. The two masters present songs such as “Laurita” (Richard Galliano), “After you’ve gone” (Creamer Layton), “Viaggio” (Richard Galliano), “Czardas” (Vittorio Monti), “Chiquilin de Bachin” (Astor Piazzolla ), “Fou rire” (Richard Galliano), “Petite Fleur” (Sidney Bechet), “Spleen” (Richard Galliano), “Georgia on my Mind” (Carmichael-Gorrell), “Oblivion” (Astor Piazzolla), “Libertango ” (Astor Piazzolla). Entrance is reserved for members of the Grosseto Cultura Foundation: before the concert it will be possible to purchase a membership card for 15 euros.

SAMUELE LUTI

Born in 1974 in Massa Marittima in the province of Grosseto, he began studying the accordion at a very young age, then continuing at the “L. Cherubini” of Florence under the guidance of the masters Salvatore di Gesualdo and Ivano Battiston. He studied piano at the same conservatory.

Subsequently perfecting himself also in the field of jazz accordion music, he won four national music competitions (Genoa, Rome, Perugia, Teramo) and held concerts both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in Rome, Perugia, Pontremoli, Viareggio, Pistoia, Trieste , Syracuse, Taranto, in many other Italian locations and abroad. He has to his credit some radio and television recordings and the recording of records. He has been chosen as a juror in many music competitions. He has played with important musicians, in various formations. Interested in improvisation, composition, the semiotics of music and the philosophical implications of musical theory, he has held concert lessons on the history and evolution of the concert accordion in many Italian locations. Interested in the musical works of Astor Piazzolla and Richard Galliano, he willingly combines his imprint of jazz improvisation with the styles of Argentine tango nuevo and French valse-musette, ranging across all musical genres.

MICHELE MAKAROVIC

Michele Makarovic (Grosseto, 1965) graduated in trumpet at the Livorno conservatory under the guidance of Alessandro Marchetti. After various experiences in the classical field, he directed his studies towards a jazz direction, attending Siena Jazz courses under the guidance of Paolo Fresu and Giancarlo Gazzani. He specialized in big band jazz at the popular school of “Testaccio”, in Rome, under the guidance of Danilo Terenzi and Roberto Ottini, and participated as an orchestral and soloist in many television programs including “Unomattina” on Rai1, “Campioni of dance” on Canale 5, “Fenomeni” on Rai 1, “Paolo Limiti Show” on Rai 1 and “Serata d’Onore” on Rai 1. He also deepened his studies towards Latin American music and participated as a musician in theater tours with actors such as Lino Banfi, Piera Degli Esposti and Gigi Proietti, with whom he has collaborated since 2006. He graduated in trumpet and trombone from the “Mascagni di Livorno” institute. He is currently a trumpet and trombone teacher at the “Giannetti” municipal musical institute in Grosseto.
