Elections in Bergamo, a thousand at the dinner for Pezzotta as mayor. Lara Magoni running for the European Championships

The guests reached the thousand mark. But there were more would-be diners at Andrea Pezzotta’s mega election dinner tonight (19 April 2024) at the Fair, given that the calls to the organizers also came after the space in the portion of Pavilion B ran out reserved for the event. Among the many politicians there will also be the regional undersecretary Lara Magoniwho will announce his candidacy for the European elections.

It starts at 7.30pm: on the menu Italian appetizers with tarts, then scarpinocc and cake; presentation of the candidate Maurizio Bucarelli and two 20-minute talk shows hosted by Giuseppe Brindisi of Rete4. All for a contribution (already paid by bank transfer) of «at least» 30 euros. «But we will make a loss – predicts an organizer -. After all, it is an electoral event and not a fundraiser.”

Meanwhile, a new list is added to those of FdI, Lega and FI and the civica which support the centre-right candidate: Bergamo is ideal, already present in the outgoing municipal council with Danilo Minuti and Luca Nosari, today candidates with the Pezzotta List. The names are not there yet: some confirmation is missing. «We are a regional civic movement that brings its added value to the local level», explains the coordinator Giacomo Cosentino who will be with Pezzotta tomorrow at 12.40, at the point in Galleria Mazzoleni. However, the presence of Italia Viva and + Europa in support of the centre-left candidate Elena Carnevali had already been announced. Today at 6.30 pm in Largo Rezzara the list will be presented with Paola Rossi, president of Iv per città e hinterland, and Dino Paoli, spokesperson for +Europa Bergamo. Many young people have been announced plus some well-known names such as the former councilor Carlo Fornoni and Paolo Carzaniga, already candidate with +Europa in 2019. Finally, the first face-to-face meeting between Carnevali and Pezzotta should take place in a few weeks: in mid-May the two candidates should be the protagonists of an online discussion for the «Studio Bnc Fridays» series.
