A bittersweet draw for Palermo in Parma. On 10 December 2023 the Rosanero visited the league leaders for the 16th matchday of the championship. Corini’s team appeared at the “Tardini” after two defeats (against Cittadella and Catanzaro) and a draw (against Ternana) in the three previous rounds of the championship. We therefore needed a proud performance to raise our heads again.
Palermo ‘uncorks’ the match with a Eurogoal: Coulibaly steals the ball from Hernani and touches the ball with the tip towards Brunori who, shortly after the midfield circle, sees the goalkeeper outside the posts and shoots with his first intention with his left foot, going over the opposing goalkeeper. The goal is a true champion’s play and Palermo thus takes the lead after just three minutes. A quarter of an hour later the Rosanero scored a double advantage: the scorer was still there Brunori, who scores with a splendid curling shot, this time with his right foot. Palermo ends the first half with a score of 0 – 2 at home to the league leaders.
The second half of the game saw an angry reaction from Parma. Pecchia’s team closes the gap in the 6th minute Estevez. In the 41st minute of the second half, a serious defensive amnesia from the home team allows Segre to fly towards Chichizola’s goal, Palermo’s number 8 is glacial in front of goal and scores the goal to make it 1 – 3, which seems to close the match. In the first minute of injury time, however, Parma closed the gap thanks to a nice right-footed shot from the edge of the area Mihaila and in the sixth he even manages to equalize with a surgical header Charpentier. A truly difficult prank to forget for the team and for the Rosanero fans, which came at the end of a match that Palermo seemed to have in control until injury time.
After 16 days Palermo found themselves ateighth place in the quota ranking 25 points while Parma led the table at 34, one point more than second-placed Venezia. Today, after 33 days of the championship, the rosanero occupy the sixth place with 51 points, four less than Catanzaro in fifth. Parma, for its part, remained solidly at first placestrong of his 69 points5 more than Como who is chasing.
