We receive and publish the press release in its entirety Malnate Civic Committee which referred to the Brothers of Italy but who, after the choice of Sandro Damiani as the centre-right candidate, decided to break away from the coalition to support Paola Cassina, who today – Thursday 18 April – launched her candidacy for mayor as a civic member.
After long and intricate negotiations, between promises and compromises, a name has emerged for the Fratelli d’Italia mayoral candidate for Malnate. This name, an expression of the party, was initially forcefully rejected by all the political forces sitting at the territorial discussion table. During internal party negotiations, a committee of sympathizers was born, the future circle of brothers of Italy for Malnate, led by Sebastiano Platania, to promote and support, as a valid alternative, Paola Cassina’s candidacy as a civic figure.
The objective of the committee was to give strength and visibility to the party given that in the five years available to the outgoing councilor Sandro Damiani, now a candidate for mayor, the number of members and supporters remained stagnant. He probably wasn’t able to form a team to support him or he wasn’t interested because the contribution of his nephew who from the ranks of Forza Italia wrote him articles for the Malnate Ponte (municipal periodical) was enough.
Nonetheless, the candidate for mayor, who should be a figure of union and guarantee of all the different expressions present in the party, had the courage to denigrate the newly created committee in the press. The members of the committee, disappointed by the convenient choice made by the party and not recognizing themselves in the proposed candidate, have thus decided to unite in a civic list, to support what they believe in with coherence and determination.
This choice reflects a clear fracture within Malnate’s Fratelli d’Italia and highlights a growing dissatisfaction with the decisions taken at provincial level.
The formation of this civic list is a sign of change and the desire to act in a more responsible and coherent way with the values they intend to represent, offering an alternative to provincial politics and supporting Paola Cassina with conviction.
The nascent civic list aims to represent the interests of the Malnate community, offering a courageous and authentic alternative to the current political landscape. Coherence and responsible opposition to the choices imposed by the party become the pillars on which this new political initiative is based, which aims to bring a fresh wind of change into local political life.
