But they didn’t want to do it, despite multiple appeals from many forces of the left and center left, ranging from Montanari to Saccardi.”
The other fixed point is that in the event of a run-off, he would not give his support to Eike Schmidt, candidate of the centre-right. “We are the only truly civic ones – concluded Del Re – because we don’t have a parachute behind us: we don’t run while we are councilors cutting ribbons, regional vice-presidents or museum directors on leave. We don’t have Renzi, Nardella or the right-wing parties behind us. We have people who ask to be listened to and to feel part of a project.”
