CREMONA – Significant service operation carried out by the Carabinieri of the Cremona Radiomobile Section, concluded with the arrest of a man of 51 years old, with a police record against him and resident in the province of Varese, for receiving stolen goods and illegal possession of a firearm with abraded serial number.
The intervention of the Carabinieri took place yesterday evening, around 11.45pm, when it arrived at the Cremona operations centre. an excited phone call from the owner of a restaurant in Largo Boccaccino which reported the presence of a man with a gun.
After a very short time, the Radiomobile patrol arrived at the premises and found only one customer, who matched the description of the person reported. Upon seeing the Carabinieri, the man put something in the waistband of his trousers, but was immediately immobilized.
He was searched and found on him a 7.65 caliber pistol with abraded serial number, with a shot ready to be fired and complete with magazine with four more cartridges inside. And in a pocket they found two more bullets of the same caliber.
After disarming him and rendering him harmless, the military identified him as the 51-year-old and, with the help of the owner of the restaurant, reconstructed what had happened previously. The man had entered the business with the gun in his hand and pointed upwards, asking for a lighter and receiving a negative response. Then he took and drank a beer, saying he wouldn’t pay for it. And at that moment the request for intervention was made to the Carabinieri operations center with the immediate arrival of the Radiomobile patrol.
The man, who was obviously drunk when he was made to sit in the company car, he hit the window of the vehicle with headbutts and the door with kicks, but it was blocked by the military: no damage to the company car.
The gun was seized and the man was declared under arrest for receiving stolen goods and illegal possession of a firearm. He was held in the security rooms of the Cremona Company awaiting the validation hearing which took place this morning and concluded with the validation of the deed, the sentence to two years of imprisonment and a fine of 2,000 euros and his subjection to the signature requirement. The man was freed.
