LEGNANO – The second phase of “Give us your story” will begin next week in Legnano, the research project for stories from the past by the “Augusto Marinoni” civic library and the group of bibliovolunteers launched at the end of March. The initiative, which falls in the program of the centenary of Legnano Cittàis aimed at creating a “short” that will collect voices, faces and testimonies of an important glimpse of the city’s history of the twentieth century up to the threshold of the Seventies through stories lived or passed down that talk about work, habits, loves, leisure, families and holidays.

A few days before the deadline closes (April 20th), around fifty applications have been collected; around twenty of these concern people hospitalized in the Accorsi Rsa where bibliovolunteers carry out cultural animation activities. From next week will be examined by the working group composed of Library staff and bibliovolunteers. Starting from May, the latter will begin interviews with candidates, even going to their homes: for these trips they will use an electric vehicle made available by the technical sponsor of the initiative, the Rezzonico Auto Group (in the photo above).

Bragato: «Complementary offer to that of Pertini»

«The number of users of the Library headquarters in Mazzafame is a figure that reflects a precise choice – he observes Guido Bragatocouncilor for culture – that of proposing activities that, mainly, involve a segment of the population complementary to that addressed by the initiatives of the Pertini civic center which, in ten years, has become a strong point of reference for young people and adults. The Library, involving the little ones and their families with its proposals, consolidates what, in the Mazzafame district, is becoming a real community “hub”.. Fundamental actors in the development of Pertini’s activities are the bibliovolunteers who, starting from the initiative born in the headquarters in via Cavour, “Grandparents, read me a book”, have collaborated to develop “Fairy tales for breakfast”, which has become the fixed appointment on Saturday mornings».

The activity of the first twelve months of the Mazzafame office includes 130 initiatives including events for children, educational visits, play dates for adults and children, VibrArte review, reading groups and workshops, 500 citizens involved (children, young people and adults) and 45 bibliovolunteer promoters in the projects “Grandparents, can you read me a book?” and “Fairy Tales for Breakfast”. The new Library has collaborated, in a network logic, with schools and associations of the neighbourhood: Youth aggregation centre, Pertini Il Salice centre, reality of the Casa del Volunteero and Ludoteca Altomilanese.
