BARI – The 2024 Bari Grand Prix warms up its engines for its highlight phase. The Liberation Bridge – as the weekend from 25th to 28th April is defined, will once again see vintage cars speeding through the streets of the city for the historical re-enactment of the Bari Grand Prix organized by the Old Cars Club, with the patronage of the Municipality of Bari, Anci, Fiva, Puglia Region, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

Tricolor Circuit This eighth edition, included in the ASI Circuito Tricolore, brings with it great news. This is the exceptional testimonial, the Italian driver who competed in Formula 1 between the end of the Seventies and the Nineties, Riccardo Patrese, who will be in Bari on 27 and 28 April.

Another interesting novelty will be the location, in two strategic points of the circuit (in Piazza Libertà and in the space in front of the former Fish Market, in Piazza del Ferrarese) of two large ledwallwhere live coverage of the race and many interviews with the protagonists will be broadcast.

The 2024 edition was presented yesterday morning at Palazzo di Città by Antonio Durso, president of Old Cars Club together with Carla Palone, municipal councilor for Economic Development and the commander of the Local Police, Michele Palumbo. «This event costs us a lot of work and sacrifice, which takes us for two whole years, the time between one re-enactment and another – underlined Durso -. But everything is done with great passion: and this recognition has always come to us from the participants of previous editions, it is the greatest gratification.”

four days Four days of events therefore, starting on April 25th, when the paddock will be set up in Piazza della Libertà, where all the cars of the event and a VRS driving simulator (Virtual racing simulator, which anyone can try their hand at) will be placed. From the afternoon of the 26th, enthusiasts will be able to witness the positioning of the historic and collectible cars, fifty in total, with crews coming from all over Italy and drivers and cars from abroad are also arriving (two from Switzerland, one from Holland and a driver Italian-American with three precious examples of vintage cars).

Furthermore, on the morning of Friday 26th, the pilots will be able to visit, in collaboration with Ferrovie Appulo Lucane, Villa Torre Quarto in Cerignola and the city of Trani. On Saturday 27th, from 9am, the display of all the cars in the paddock will begin. From 4pm, people from Bari and tourists will be able to attend the traditional display and parade of vintage cars from Old Cars together with the modern ones from the Porsche Club Puglia and the Ferrari Club Italia. From 7pm, all the participating cars will carry out a reconnaissance lap of the circuit and, at 9pm, in Piazza Prefettura, the official opening of the eighth re-enactment of the Bari Grand Prix will take place, with the greeting of the mayor Antonio Decaro, the presentation of the cars and the start of the night parade.

Sunday 28th starting from 9am, the highlight of the event, with the day opening with the Mameli Anthem, the drivers’ briefing and the transfer of all the cars onto the circuit. At 9.30 the historical reenactment will begin from the start in Piazza della Libertà. The circuit will run through the entire ancient village with the characteristic obligatory curves, the “chicanes” that characterized the ancient route of the Grand Prix. The race will end at 2pm with the awards ceremony on the podium set up in Corso Vittorio Emanuele and immediately afterwards, at the Municipality, the plaques will be awarded to the participants. This edition is framed by the exhibition, from today until the 26th in the Multicinema Galleria, of a rare Hamblin Super Two model, a car that will then be present in the final stages of the event.
