The press conference called by the council group and the city and provincial secretariats of Southern Italy announced several news relating to the new AV station, which will be built in the heart of the city, about 4 km away from the historic Piazzale Vittorio Veneto station.
During the meeting, the prospects regarding the historic station of Piazzale Vittorio Veneto were also examined, with technical interventions aimed at improving railway circulation and the transport function. Furthermore, ongoing projects were discussed, including those presented by associations such as CAPITANATA.NEO and La Società Civile, aimed at redeveloping and enhancing various disused railway areas, including the Ferrovia district.
The objective of these interventions is to improve sustainable mobility, accessibility and attractiveness of urban areas, thus contributing to the cohesion of the city. During the meeting, the FAST-CONFSAL regional secretariat of Puglia and Basilicata provided technical information regarding railway circulation and the intermodal transport function.
