A lot of Brazilian sound arriving at the Roman amphitheater in Terni. On July 21st, Antonio Pecci Filho, aka Toquinho, will be the protagonist: the event is organized by the Terni Città Futura and Argoo Aps associations and is part of the Endrigo Tribute which is now “growing and becoming an Author’s Tribute”. Tickets will be available from Monday in advance on Ticketitalia.it.

The event

«While remaining linked – explain the organizers – to the name of Sergio Endrigo and his artistic figure, over the years the event has increasingly taken the form of a real songwriting festival, spread over several days. Hence the desire to evolve towards a festival with an increasingly complex and multidisciplinary character, capable of bringing both young people and a more varied audience closer to the vast scope of Italian singer-songwriter music, thanks to a program of events and appointments to be organized over the course. of the entire year. After eleven years, we believe the moment has come for a turning point, renewing the event with new life, creativity and stimuli, launching ourselves towards new organizational challenges. We want to make Terni, starting from the figure of Sergio Endrigo, the ‘capital’ of singer-songwriter music with moments of entertainment and in-depth analysis, capable not only of celebrating it but also promoting it among the new generations. In fact, Italian songwriting represents a cultural heritage to be preserved and valorised, an art form that goes beyond simple entertainment, because it offers food for thought and arouses emotions capable of deeply touching the soul. With its refined, poetic and committed lyrics, the songwriting is a pillar of the culture and literature of our country. We begin this new journey by announcing an international-level concert.

Toquinho

On July 21st it will be the turn of Toquinho, a Brazilian musician who had the opportunity to collaborate with Sergio Endrigo on a record, still considered today the greatest example of fusion between music and poetry. «The singer celebrates his 50-year career with some concerts around Europe and returns to Italy exclusively for our festival. It will be an opportunity to listen live to the world’s greatest exponent of bosa nova. Toquinho, or ‘Toco’, as Vinicius De Moraes liked to call him, at 76 years old embodies the purest and most truthful expression of Brazil’s musical strength and history. With his warm timbre and unmistakable delicate touch on the guitar, Toquinho, accompanied by the splendid voice of the Brazilian Camilla Faustino, Dudu Penz on bass and Mauro Martins on drums, will be the protagonist of an evening capable of restoring the charm of the ‘saudade’ of Tom Jobim and his great friend and collaborator Vinicius de Moraes, Baden Powell, Carlos Lyra, Chico Buarque, Menescal and many others. A concert that will delve into the poetic soul of bossa nova and the unmistakable magic of the ‘Afro Sambas’, re-proposing the songs that have made audiences all over the world fall in love: from the melodies of ‘The desire and the madness, the unconsciousness and l’allegria’, ‘Senza fear’, ‘Samba della benedizione’, ‘Samba per Vinicius’ up to ‘Acquarello’ (which celebrates 40 years of success in Italy), just to name some of his successes. He has recorded sixteen albums with Vinicius de Moraes, collaborating in particular with Ornella Vanoni (The desire, the madness, the unconsciousness, the cheerfulness). He became very popular in Italy in 1969 by playing on the album ‘La vita, amici, è l’arte dell’interno’, made by Sergio Endrigo, Vinícius de Moraes and Giuseppe Ungaretti, his first recording in Italy; collaborating with Ennio Morricone on the creation of the album ‘Per unpunto di samba’ by Chico Buarque de Hollanda. In 1990 he took part in the Sanremo Festival singing Paola Turci’s song ‘Thank God’ in Portuguese.” There will be other events on 6 and 7 September.

Via Roma

An in-depth panel on song and poetry in Bct is scheduled, «confirming the traditional youth contest ‘Terni canta d’Autore’ which this year will take place in one of the most representative streets of the historic center: Via Roma. The contest will maintain its successful formula, hosting dozens of young singer-songwriters who will have the opportunity to make their unreleased songs known and to try their hand at the masterpieces of Italian songwriting. This does not exhaust the ‘Author’s Tribute’ project which aims to propose, by the end of the summer season, a further concert starring an important name in Italian music, an event for which details we refer to a forthcoming and specific press release, for which we recommend to wait for the next updates”.
