Friday 19 April, twenty-five years after the single Supercafone, which suddenly made him the undisputed protagonist of all Italian radio in the summer of 1999, Tommaso Zanello in art Piotta brings the promotional tour of the new album to the stage of The Cage, An infamous night.
The album was released on March 1st on all digital platforms, on CD and vinyl, and is published by La Grande Onda and distributed by Altafonte and A1. It is the tenth in the studio and takes all its inspiration from a painful and intimate event, that of the premature death of his older brother Fabio. Fabio Zanello, an appreciated writer and essayist, had signed many of Piotta’s lyrics and the first track of the new album opens with his verses and his voice. The album is a journey through the untangled emotional labyrinth of a relationship between brothers, marked by personal vicissitudes but also by facts that have had a generational impact: from the years of lead to Italy as world champion, from the boom of the nineties to the collapse of the Berlin Wall, from the countercultures of the seventies to the birth of Italian hip-hop. Piotta’s rap becomes more introspective and aware than ever, on record and in live performances. Added to the album is the publication of Corso Trieste, the first book by the Roman rapper, written together with his brother Fabio, like the album: the novel will be available in all bookstores for La Nave di Teseo.
Piotta’s tour started last March 15th from the Viper in Florence and sees a renewed lineup, with the composer Francesco Santalucia on piano, synth and guitar, Augusto AKU Pallocca on sax, Claudio Cicchetti on drums and percussion, and the sound engineer Cristiano Boffi.
