16 arborist candidates will participate in the ETW (European Tree Worker) Certifications on Friday 19 April from 7.30 to 17.30 in the Villa Guiccioli Park. The initiative is promoted by the Italian Society of Arboriculture for the first time in Vicenza and with the support of the technicians of AMCPS, managing body of the Villa Guiccioli Park. “We are very happy to support the proposal – they highlight from AMCPS – also considering the fact that we often find ourselves employing such professionals and the more trained professionals increase, the greater the benefit that the maintenance of public green areas will receive”.

These certifications are very demanding exams that attest to optimal learning of the knowledge of managing the most complex and delicate historical and monumental trees. The test consists of a written test that ranges from botanical, phytopathological, biomechanical and nursery knowledge and more practical tests which include climbing the tree and carrying out the work both in tree climbing and through the use of platforms.

Each of the competitors will have two examiners at their side, certified arborists, who will have to evaluate the quality of the test.

The appointment is of considerable importance in being able to improve both the knowledge and the quality of the management practices that must be applied to the plants.

For the occasion, some plants will be set up which will be tested by the candidates. The area around the plants will obviously be closed off but, given the grandeur of the trees, these activities will still be able to be seen by the public.
