Music and people: Livorno soundscape at Goldoni

The first, entitled “Listening and playing the city”, curated by Mario Piatti and Enrico Strobino, is scheduled for Thursday 2 May, at 4pm, in the great hall of the Niccolini Palli

At the end of the project “Music and people: Livorno soundscape” – school-city-world intercultural festival to learn about and build the soundscape of yesterday, today and tomorrow in the Livorno of Nations – the state institute of higher education Niccolini Palli and the Goldoni Theater in Livorno have organized a final concert for Saturday 4 May, at 8pm, at the Goldoni Theatre.

The concert program is based on the key themes of the festival, in particular interculture and soundscape. In the first part, performances linked to the historical roots of the Livorno delle

Nationsrepresenting some of its main communities, while in the second, songs from the Risorgimento, popular and modern repertoire will be performed, always connected to the historical soundscape of the city: both sections are the result of research, adaptation and transcription of the materials music for educational purposes by the teachers of the music department of Niccolini Palli high school. In the third part of the concert, there will be space for some compositions that belong to the contemporary and which were written and elaborated by authors from Livorno, both teachers and students, to then conclude with two pieces for modular orchestra

vertical directed by the master Valter Sivilotti. Tickets for the concert are on sale at the Goldoni Theater ticket office and via the Ticketone circuit.

Four pieces that will be performed during the concert, two for flute ensemble and two for soloists, are taken from the editorial series “The Rrft carousel”, published by the Sillabe publishing house for the Tuscany regional flute network. The 72-piece orchestra was formed thanks to the network between the musical high school, the comprehensive institutes and the Pietro Mascagni state music conservatory, while the choir is made up of four classes from the Carlo Bini and D’Azeglio primary schools.

The entire editorial series “Il carosello della Rrft” is available, in e-book format, on the online store of the Sillabe publishing house (www.sillabe.it).

The concert will be preceded by two seminars. The first, from the title “Listening and playing the city”edited by Mario Piatti and Enrico Strobino, is scheduled for Thursday 2 May, at 4 pm, in the great hall of Niccolini Palli. For the second, “Building and playing the city” curated by Valter Sivilotti, two appointments are scheduled for Saturday 4 May, at 10am in the great hall of the Niccolini Palli and at 5pm at the Goldoni Theatre.
