Betting case. Pres. Benevento: “We lose the championships, but never our dignity”

He concludes: “If a conviction were to come out, we would be signing up to behavior that should make us reflect on how things have gone in the last two years: as president I feel responsible, because although there is no objective responsibility, there is a “culpa in vigilando” and perhaps we did not monitor well, perhaps even in the difficulty I was talking about we can sometimes pick up some signs: if it is true that there are culprits, we haven’t picked up the signs and this hurts for a person like me who always tends to be present in everything. The damage is patrimonial if it concerns children, sporting and moral.”
