University. The South Tyrolean provincial government has approved the new criteria for the use of housing services within the scope of the right to university education. The new rents amount to 360 euros for a single room and 270 for a double room. The new social criteria include parents’ unemployment, students’ disability, the orphan status of one or both parents, the number of family members who live outside the family for study purposes and the students’ employment situation. An automated ranking is introduced for freshmen and reappointments, students must be in compliance with the course of study and reside at a distance of at least 15 km.
The director of the Right to Education Division, Rolanda Tschugguel, clarified that applications for new admission or reconfirmation to a student residence will be submitted to the Office for the Right to University Education via the online services of the provincial administration (presumably at the end of June) . There are over 700 places available in the 12 student residences between Bolzano and Bressanone.
