Excellent results on the Italian market for LPG, a French company founded in 1986 and specialized in the production of machinery for aesthetic and medical treatments. Acquired 90% by the Carlyle fund in 2018 (the remaining 10% remained in the hands of the founding family), the company has since started a process of internal reorganization and insertion of managerial skills which is evidently bearing fruit.

“LPG was born after its founder, an engineer, had to undergo physiotherapy following an accident, realizing how much a machine capable of reproducing certain movements could help the operators’ work, for example on traumas such as edema, scars, burns, etc. Today we also have technologies that help patients in the post-operative phases, but also before certain operations, to better prepare the tissues”, Alessandro De Pedys, General Manager of LPG Italia, met at Cosmofarma, tells FashionNetwork.com. “Machines were then developed for the treatment of aesthetic problems, such as localized adiposity, wrinkles, double chin, cellulite, etc.”

Over the past four years, LPG has opened branches in its main markets and today has 6 in Europe, one in China and one in the United States. Globally, the company generates approximately 120 million euros, of which 40 million in France, growing by double digits year on year. For five years now, Italy, the second branch after France with around 10 million euros in turnover, has recorded triple-digit growth.

“If on the domestic market the medical part represents 60% of the total turnover and the aesthetic part 40%, at branch level – where the company has decided to approach the aesthetic market first for a question of numbers and greater ease of penetration – the proportions are reversed”, adds the manager.

In addition to the machinery, LPG produces cosmetics in France to be used for in-cabin treatments and for home use, a total of 28 references. “We only sell them through those who have installed our technology. Currently some centers have decided to brand themselves as LPG, in the future I would like the parent company to decide to open direct centres, which would certainly give further impetus to the business”.
