Campi Flegrei: Ingenito (b&b), avoid damage to tourism

NAPLES, 21 MAY – “As highlighted several times by scientists, we find ourselves in a new situation of bradyseism, which is widely monitored. Without ever omitting any truth and with the primary objective of protecting residents and property, we hope that the right balance is maintained especially towards international news channels to avoid risks of cancellations and missed tourist choices towards our regional territory”. This was underlined by Agostino Ingenito, president of Abbac, the association of B&Bs and holiday home rentals. Ingenito asks that “communications be unambiguous and that they come from certain sources. We certainly don’t want news to be hidden, quite the opposite, but it must also be said that for us in the tourism sector, this period is considered high season. There are many foreign travelers who have planned cultural and naturalistic stays and tours in our splendid region, with particular cultural interest among the UNESCO sites of Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius and towards the islands of the Gulf, the Sorrento Peninsula, the Amalfi Coast and inland areas. We hope that all communication channels in our sector are alerted, which highlights that this is a cyclical natural phenomenon for the territory, thus creating the right balance with respect to alarmist tones that risk penalizing us also for the choice of destination for domestic tourism ”. “The economic trend of this first part of the year, between the perceived effects of inflation, especially in Italy, interest rates, increases in air and rail transport tariffs, as well as increased costs, could generate further repercussions towards our sector, which was only able to resume its journey in 2023, after the disastrous effects of Covid”, concludes Ingenito.
