Yesterday, an elderly man from 1931, resident in Vicenza, contacted the emergency number 113 to report the alleged theft of his hunting rifle, for which he legally held the license. However, he could not remember precisely when and where the alleged theft had taken place.

As a result, State Police officers immediately went to his home to investigate the situation. During the meeting with the officers, the man changed his story and stated that he was not sure if he had suffered a theft, but rather thought that he had simply lost the rifle inside his apartment, without being able to find it.

Faced with obvious signs of confusion on the part of the elderly gentleman, the officers managed to contact a relative, who confirmed that the man indeed owned a hunting rifle. However, due to the man’s advanced age, the family had hidden the weapon inside the apartment to ensure his safety and that of others.

Subsequently, the rifle was found by the officers hidden on top of a wardrobe and, considering the situation, it was temporarily seized as a precautionary measure. In fact, the probable loss of the psycho-physical requirements necessary for possession of the weapon emerged, given the gentleman’s advanced age.

The rifle was transported to the Police Headquarters, where it remains kept.
