Varese, 16 April 2024 – On the occasion of EcoRun Varese 2024, scheduled for 20 and 21 April, the Prealpino Speleological Group organizes guided visits to the air raid shelters of the Giardini Estensi.
The initiative, open to the public, will be held on Saturday 20 April from 2pm to 6pm and Sunday 21 April from 10am to 4pm.
Visitors will be able to access the air raid shelter located under the Giardini Estensi, a civil engineering work dating back to the Second World War.
A dive into the history of the city
The guided tours will be an opportunity to learn about the history of Varese during the war period and to discover how the population protected itself from aerial bombings.
Visitors will be able to admire the shelter’s original structures, including tunnels, emergency rooms and sleeping quarters.
An evocative and educational experience
The guided visits to the air raid shelters of the Estensi Gardens are an evocative and educational experience that allow you to deepen your knowledge of the history of Varese and raise public awareness on the issues of peace and security.
