Maxirissa at the Shrine, arrests all validated. The investigating judge of the Court of Viterbo yesterday morning heard the three men who ended up under house arrest after taking part in, and in some cases giving rise to, the violent beating last Friday in the central Piazza Martiri d’Hungarian, right in front of the Amadiani church. “We were defending our children”, this is what the suspects would have said to motivate their actions.

Viterbo, maxi-brawl at the Shrine: 10 of them face each other with bars and fists

The quarrel

Last April 26th, shortly after 7pm, some kids apparently started arguing. However, the argument soon turned into a brawl, because parents and some friends intervened to defend several young people. What started as a verbal confrontation turned into a brawl involving hammers and clubs. During the brawl there was also an attempt to hit another man with the car, who ended up stuck against a light pole. All this to the fright of citizens who were walking through the center and tourists visiting the capital. A scene that left its mark. When the Carabinieri and police arrived en masse, the “fighters” were still present and almost all of them were taken to the offices of the Police Headquarters and the provincial barracks of the Viterbo Army. Final balance of three arrests, validated yesterday morning. The 46-year-old from Viterbo, Alessio Denocenti, ended up under house arrest on charges of attempted murder, aggravated brawl and injuries, Paolo Trabalzi, from Viterbo, born in 1988, and Hosseini Mohammad, born in 1990, both accused of aggravated brawl and injuries.

The words of the suspects

Yesterday the three suspects appeared before the investigating judge to explain their reasons. And what drove them to bring out those weapons. At the end, the judge validated all the arrests and adjourned them for the trial in which all those who, despite themselves, witnessed the scene will also have to testify. The dynamics of the brawl and above all the reasons still remain to be clarified. In fact, the investigators are still examining all the testimonies collected and watching the many videos that were shot by some passers-by during the fight. It is thanks to these images that the police and carabinieri managed to close the circle on the matter in a very short time. But there are not only those arrested, because 4 participants were only reported to be at liberty and among them there would also be a minor. Among those reported were also women who allegedly supported the men.

Police officers and the Carabinieri seized a baseball bat and a hammer. The large engine car with which, according to the accusations, the 46-year-old Denocenti attempted to run over the 33-year-old Afghan Mohammad was also sealed. In fact, Denocenti is the only one to also answer for attempted murder. The most serious position, given the extreme gesture. Meanwhile, the controversy continues. After the intervention of the mayor Chiara Frontini who stated that the brawl could have happened anywhere and that it is not a safety problem in the historic centre, some opposition councilors expressed their disappointment. As well as some citizens who invaded social media pages to complain about what happened.
