From 25 April to 2 May it became a problem to park at the Latina Scalo station. In fact, for the patronal celebration, a significant portion of the parking serving the railway yard was used for the rides.
The authorization was granted, as every year, by the Municipality of Latina which has no other spaces available to place entertainment for the little ones. Result: there was a shortage of just under 100 parking spaces available to people who take the train in the morning to go to work in Rome and in other cities served by the railway. Inconveniences and bad moods are inevitable. Many are making do with haphazard parking. Yesterday morning some were even parked in front of the bus stop. «It is already difficult to find a place because the parking is insufficient, but thus the parking spaces have been significantly reduced – is the general comment of the commuters – When you arrive in a rush to catch the train and go to work, finding yourself faced with the prohibition that inhibits a large part of parking is really depressing.”
«Why place the rides right in the station car park, in a rest area with already many parking and safety problems?» many ask themselves. In short, commuters are exhausted. Also because the rides have always been positioned in the same spot for the patron saint’s day for decades and an alternative solution has never been found.
On the one hand, those who have to go to work by train can no longer take it, on the other, the community that lives at the station wants to preserve their traditions, including the rides. Furthermore, on May 1st and on the evening of April 30th, weather permitting, Via delle Industrie, in front of the church, will also be closed to traffic to allow the celebration to take place.
