Ancona, San Ciriaco Fair: program and news

The vibrant Fiera di San Ciriaco celebration, to be held in 2024, offers a bouquet of surprises and innovations to delight Ancona residents and visitors. Starting with a Civic Merit ceremony, which for the first time will take place in the picturesque setting of Piazza del Papa, up to an engaging closing concert, which will extend the celebrations for an entire day. The seductive aromas of street food in Piazza Pertini will kick off the new edition of this famous fair, while the rides will rekindle the enthusiasm in the hearts of visitors in the Passetto area.
Ancona – Piazza Cavour

The San Ciriaco Fair extends this year “from sea to sea”, also embracing Piazza Cavour which returns to the center of the scene for the events of the Municipality of Ancona. Along Viale della Vittoria, street vendors will occupy a space that goes from Via Giannelli to Piazza IV Novembre, also hosting displays of Typical Flavours. On the right side of the avenue, the occupation will start from via Orsi up to piazza IV Novembre, with the first part reserved for residents; on the left side, the street vendors will line up from via Giannelli up to the former Dorico stadium, along via Bianchi up to the end of viale della Vittoria, leaving the last stretch for the passage of residents.

In the heart of the city, in Corso Garibaldi, there will be the Market and the Trade Fair in Piazza Cavour. While refreshment points will be set up in Piazza Pertini, ready to welcome visitors starting from Tuesday 30 April. The stalls will be open from Wednesday 1st May to Saturday 4th May from 8.30am to 10.00pm; while the administration will begin at 18:00 on Tuesday 30 April and in the following days at 12:00, to end at 24:00. The stands will offer a wide variety of culinary specialties from different regions and countries, including Tigelleria Modenese from Emilia, American Street Food with beef burgers, chicken burgers and chips from Romagna, Argentine Asado and Latin specialties Americans from Argentina Green, just to name a few.

The San Ciriaco Fair will be held in Ancona from 30 April to 5 May 2024.
Exhibitors

In total they will be 437 exhibitors (compared to 424 in 2023), divided by product categories, with the street vendors sector dominating the scene. Among them, 22 gastronomy stalls will offer a wide range of delicacies for those who want to enjoy short snacks or organize real picnics at the fair. These benches will be located on the side lanes of Viale della Vittoria and in front of Piazza Diaz. In the central pedestrian section, between via Rismondo and via Bianchi, there will be the “Typical Flavors” section, which will welcome 26 exhibitors from 12 different regions, including Abruzzo, Calabria, Lazio, Liguria, Piedmont, Puglia, Romagna, Sardinia, Sicily, Umbria, Veneto and also Belgium.
One of the real innovations will be stand dedicated to celiacswhich will offer not only the sale of gluten-free products, but also useful information for people suffering from this intolerance.
There Trade Fair will see the participation of 29 companies, including car showroom displays, while in the Artisans Market there will be 50 exhibitors with their creations. Finally, there will be 19 food and beverage outlets where visitors can enjoy various culinary delights during the event.

Events

The entertainment in Piazza Pertini will offer performances in the style of street musicians. The artistic proposals, of various inspirations, are developed in close contact with the public and within the circuit of refreshment points. The entertainment program will extend from 7pm to midnight and will be extended until 1am on April 30th and May 4th. All concerts will be free.

Events Programme
  • Tuesday 30 April, we start with the DJ set by Giacomo Gabrielli from Ancona, known as ‘La Regina’, with the best of trash and pop music;
  • On Wednesday 1st May, the ‘Cagiara’s’ trio will perform with a repertoire of covers by Italian artists;
  • Thursday 2 May, we will continue with ‘David Mazzoni’, the well-known tenor from Ancona, finalist of Italia’s Got Talent, who will propose a journey into famous Italian music;
  • On Friday 3 May, we will have the Hit Band quartet with a concert dedicated to the best of Lucio Battisti;
  • On Saturday 4 May, the program will close with another performance of ‘La Regina’.
Closing concert

The surprise of 2024 will be the final concert that will transform Pope’s Square The May 5thwith the participation of 5.5 Funk Five, Danny Losito and Chicco Allottakeyboardist of the British group Incognito, who will perform at 6.30pm.

Civic Merit

The Civic Merits, a prestigious event, will be celebrated in the suggestive Pope’s Square on May 4th at 7pm, marking an unforgettable moment for the city. The day will be enriched by the Holy Mass at the Duomo Cathedral, followed by participation in the authorities’ ceremony.

Rides

The rides will return to entertain the little ones in the Passetto area, offering moments of endless fun.

Culture

But the Fair is not just fun: various solidarity initiatives promoted by voluntary associations will be present, demonstrating the community’s commitment to supporting charitable causes. The National Archaeological Museum of the Marche will offer a unique opportunity to promote Ancona’s cultural offering, further enriching the visitor experience.

How to visit the San Ciriaco Fair

For the Fair and the installations, traffic will undergo some changesin particular we note: the ban on parking and transit in Viale della Vittoria, from 6.30 pm on Tuesday 30 April until 6.00 am on Sunday 05/05 May. We recommend using the free shuttle bus and avoiding arriving in the center by car.

Free shuttle bus

From 1 to 4 May, as in past years, the free shuttle connecting the suburbs to the center will be activated. The peripheral terminus is located in the Conero Stadium car park. Departures from the car park start at 2.42pm and end at 9.12pm, with a run every 10 minutes. Departures from the centre, i.e. from Via Vecchini, begin at 3.00 pm and continue until 10.00 pm. There are 83 daily trips scheduled every day. Travel time is approximately 17 minutes. The only scheduled stop is in Via Giannelli. Free service.

Paid shuttle

A paid shuttle will be established from 1 to 4 May to replace lines 1/4. It will connect the Dorico, where it will end, to Piazza Cavour, passing through Corso Amendola and back. There will be 52 trips on May 1st and 103 per day from May 2nd to 4th.
Only for Wednesday 1 May, another shuttle is scheduled, again for a fee, which will connect the Archi Parking lot to the Center: from Via Marconi to Piazza Cavour. From 09.00 to 23.50, 85 trips take place every 10 minutes.
Finally, only for Saturday 4 May, on the occasion of the patronal feast, the additional service connecting Piazza Cavour and the Duomo is organized, with departures from the Square from 09.15 to 18.40, with 26 outward journeys and 24 return journeys.

Where to park

We strongly recommend not using private vehicles to get to the centre. The car parks will remain open with extended hours:

  • Stamira car park, in Piazza Pertini – from 1 to 4 May: 07.30 am / 01.00 am
  • Archi car park (Via Mamiani) – 1st and 4th May: 7.00am/9.00pm // 2nd and 3rd May: 5.30am/9pm
  • Cialdini car parks (Via Cialdini) – from 1st to 4th May: 7.00 am / 11.00 pm
  • Traiano car park, (Via XXIX Settembre) – from 1 to 4 May: 07.00 / 23.00
  • Umberto 1° car park (Via Orsi) – from 1st to 4th May: 7.00 am / 11.00 pm
