Agata Scopelliti and Calabrian music in Florence and Rome

A welcome return to Florence “Sonu a Ballu from southern Aspromonte”edited by Agata Scopellitiwithin the workshop path ‘Tradition and Gesture’, a multidisciplinary workshop of theatre, dance, choreography, bodily expression and popular dances, directed by the actress, dancer/performer Manuela Rorro.

Once again the dance traditions of our territory cross over to arrive in the splendid setting of the Renny Club which hosts Tradition and gesture and which on Sunday 14 April saw as protagonists Agata Scopelliti and the “Sonu a Ballu della Vallata del Sant’Agata” workshop arriving the following day in Rome at the ‘Violeta Parra’ Popular School of Arts for the monthly in-depth meeting that has been active for 10 years now.

“Are there any other appointments planned? Yes, a return to Florence on May 19th which follows the Bolognese date of May 18th on the occasion of the ‘Ossessuoni’ festival of traditional music and dances from southern Italy. This time I won’t be alone – comments Agata – but I will be joined by the players and musicians Piero Crucitti and Domenico Corapi who will bring live music to the stages that will be held in the afternoon and then make us dance, in the evening, at the dance concert and of course they continue the weekly appointments at the Incontriamoci Semper association in Reggio Calabria within the traditional dance laboratory of central and southern Italy”, he concludes.
