Cars set on fire on Lungarno Colombo in Florence: the last episode last March 29 when it was a regularly parked car set on fire.

On this occasion, the initial fire was promptly extinguished by the Carabinieri who were in transit. Previously, on the night of 28 October 2023, the Carabinieri of the Rovezzano station had intervened inside a condominium courtyard, always on Lungarno Colombo, since it had occurred the fire – of malicious origin, as established by the Fire Brigade – of three other cars.

With regard to these facts, the acquisition of the complaints, the examination of witnesses in the minutes and the meticulous analysis of the video surveillance images have made it possible to highlight important and serious indications of guilt against a person who had already emerged in the past as an arsonistsuffering from mental problems capable of undermining his ability to understand and want, as we learn from the Army.

Consequently, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Florence, having regard to the current demonstrated social danger, the GIP of the Florentine capital issued, on a provisional basis, the detention security measure at the REMS institute which, having had the availability of a place read at the REMS institute in Empoli, it was carried out on 04.15.2024.
