After the physicist with millions of followers Vincenzo Schettini and the Rai 2 journalist Giancarlo Governi, the cultural event «Il Sabato del Villaggio» returns to Lamezia Terme on Saturday 20 April at 6pm, in the usual setting of the Bishop’s Seminary.
Guest, the well-known Strega Prize writer Emanuele Trevi, who will discuss literature and his latest successful novel.
«In the memorable incipit of The Magician’s House (which will represent the underlying theme of our highly anticipated meeting), – declared the artistic director Raffaele Gaetano – the mother of Emanuele Trevi, then a child, often repeats an enigmatic instruction to him, referring to his father: “You know what he’s like.” In order not to lose him, we need to understand and accept the law of his distraction, of his distance. The father, Mario Trevi, a famous and very reserved Jungian psychoanalyst, is the magician for Emanuele, a healer of souls. Upon his death he leaves a studio apartment that no one wants to buy, a cave still inhabited by the invisible vapors of the crooked lives that he straightened out for decades. So the son decides to make it his home, to move into his restless and fertile atmosphere, and in doing so tries to solve his father’s enigma. Moving in his ever-changing territory, between autobiography, reflection on the meaning of relationships and existence, cultural history of the twentieth century.”
Now a few words about the protagonist of the event. Winner of the prestigious 2021 Strega Prize for fiction with Two Lives, Emanuele Trevi is unanimously considered one of the most celebrated Italian writers and critics. He translated and edited editions of Italian and French classics: we remember texts dedicated to Leopardi, Salgari, and Italian authors of the twentieth century. His Instructions for the Use of the Wolf met with considerable success. Collaborator of the «Corriere della Sera», he was part of the jury of the Calvino Prize. Among his works, all very successful: Musica distante (Mondadori, 1997), Figuracce (Einaudi, 2014), Il Popolo di Legno (Einaudi Stile Libero, 2015), Sogni e favole (Ponte alle Grazie, 2019), Viaggi initiatorii (Utet, 2021).
«Village Saturday» is promoted exclusively by private partners who have wanted to link their name to a high culture event: Officine 109, Arpaia, Riva, Beat Group, Stirparo, Bar Roma, Paradiso Group, Casa Mastroianni, T Hotel, St Patrik’s, Casimò, Mercadò, L’Ottica, Salumi del Castello.
