This morning, Tuesday 16 April, the Teatro cinema in Varese welcomed Commander Alfa of the Special Intervention Group (Gis).
The event, organized by the ANC (National Carabinieri Association) section of Varese, is part of the legality project aimed at students of the L. Einaudi State Professional Institute for Commercial and Social Services. The president of ANC Varese, Roberto Leonardi, moderated the meeting.
A large audience of enthusiastic young people listened carefully to the experience of Commander Alfa, who urged the young people present in the room to live legally and not to give in to difficulties and with sacrifice to live their dreams to the fullest.
In his speech, Commander Alfa retraced the fundamental stages of his professional life, recounting his youth spent in Castelvetrano, his town of origin, up until his entry into the Carabinieri and the Special Intervention Group, a department strongly supported by the then President of the Republic, Francesco Cossiga. A special unit trained for anti-terrorism operations, against organized crime and for rescue in crisis situations on Italian and foreign soil. A department that plays a crucial role in national security.
On this occasion, Commander Alfa presented the project of an academy on Lake Pusiano, in the province of Como, a few kilometers from Varese, thanks to which it will be possible to offer young people aged 16 to 20 a real life experience . A place to teach children to talk, to interact with each other and, a distinctive element, without the use of cell phones.
At the Academy the children will learn the basic elements of martial arts, but at the same time they will acquire street education and how to deal with basic household chores such as cooking, cleaning and making the bed in which they sleep.
The Academy’s program also includes meetings with active or retired Army soldiers and with magistrates who have fought organized crime and other forms of crime.
