On 26 April 2024 the State Police carried out the precautionary measure of custody in prison, issued on the same day by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Arezzo at the request of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, against a thirty-seven year old foreign citizen, suspected of the crime of aggravated sexual violence, committed against two minors on 9 February 2024.
The investigations, conducted by the Flying Squad of the Arezzo Police Headquarters, were started on 9 February following two separate reports to the Flying Squad relating to sexual harassment carried out by a man, who disappeared immediately after committing the crime, near a city school.
The investigators of the Arezzo Flying Squad, directed by Doctor Sergio Leo, managed to reconstruct the story and ascertain that the thirty-seven year old, “evading the surveillance of the parents of the minors, had first approached a 10 year old child to kiss him on the cheek and , shortly afterwards, he had in fact taken a 6-year-old boy away from his mother and, after taking him to a secluded place, he had pulled down his trousers and molested him.
The testimonies of the children’s parents were immediately acquired and the path taken by the man was reconstructed, also thanks to the acquisition of the city’s video surveillance cameras and the related examination of the extrapolated frames. The investigative activity was then intensified with the creation of specific plainclothes observation services near the school concerned and other school buildings”.
This activity made it possible to trace the identity of the pedophile, against whom, due to the serious indications of guilt acquired, as well as in consideration of the imminent danger of repeating crimes and the solid evidentiary framework against him, the measure of pre-trial detention in prison.
The man, tracked down by the Flying Squad agents, was then arrested and taken to the Sollicciano (FI) prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
