April 15, 2024 will remain imprinted in the memory of the young students, thanks to their active and engaging participation in the Valle Council, an experience that left an indelible mark of learning and civic awareness.

Accompanied by their teachers, Sonia Buthod and Ilaria Reginato, and supported by the brilliant university students of the Master Métiers de l’éducation, de l’enseignement et de la formation of the University of Lyon, Feyza Ardic and Pauline Etourneau, the boys had the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of regional politics and closely understand the functioning of the Legislative Assembly.

The day began with a detailed illustration of the history and role played by the Legislative Assembly, a moment that captured the attention of the young students, eager to learn and understand the functioning of regional institutions.

However, the highlight of the visit was the simulation of legislative work, during which the young budding regional councilors had the opportunity to discuss and vote on a bill of great relevance for their daily lives: the allocation of Homeworks.

The animated and passionate debate reflected the opinions and direct experiences of the children regarding the school workload. Although the practice of home exercises has long been considered a pillar of learning, young people have highlighted the growing pressure resulting from an often excessive amount of homework, as opposed to the extracurricular activities and free time essential for their balanced growth.

The final decision to reject the law by the young Regional Councilors reflected a growing awareness of the needs of today’s young people, who are engaged not only in studying but also in a variety of after-school activities crucial to their social and cultural development.

This educational experience allowed Gignod students to explore the world of regional politics and governance in an active and engaging way, providing them with the tools to understand and participate consciously in the civic life of their community. A small step towards a generation of informed, aware and participatory citizens, ready to shape the future of their beloved Aosta Valley.
