PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – “From Bach to Jazz” is the special event that will be previewed in Palermo during the 2023-2024 Foss season on Friday at 9pm and Saturday at 5.30pm. A new production that was commissioned by the Superintendent of the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra. On the stage of the Politeama Garibaldi the Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu who on Saturday will also be accompanied by the Marche bandoneist Daniele di Bonaventura under the direction of maestro Alberto Martini. Two shows with two different programs. “A two-day event that offers two projects linked in a peculiar way that I shared with on the one hand the ensemble of the Virtuosi Italiani of Verona directed by Maestro Alberto Martini and on the other with the bandoneonist Daniele Di Bonaventura, my companion in dozens of musical adventures “, explains Paolo Fresu.

The new project combines in a new form (with new songs inserted and never before performed), a sort of common thread, the “Back to Bach” proposed with the Virtuosi and “Vino inside” born several years ago as the soundtrack to a film by Ferdinando Vicentini Orgnani. The common sense is that contained in the title “from Bach to Jazz”, that is, a somewhat magical path that transversally proposes themes of baroque music revisited and analyzed through the jazz style. A musical journey capable of ranging from the baroque repertoire to contemporary pages whose compass is Bach’s music and the free extemporaneous improvisations typical of the jazz world. Under the same roof as this project are therefore the chiaroscuro nuances of the “Back to Bach” project, an almost gentle soundtrack of twilight where the lyrical impulses of the trumpet are nourished by the movements of the strings and the music of Tartini, Giannelli and Uri Caine and cross the time and space as caressing and sublime, lively and contemplative nuances, until reaching “Lascia ch’io pianga” for trumpet and strings by GF Händel. Finally, add to this the philosophy of “Vino inside”, the direct and mature fruit of the well-established partnership of the Sardinian trumpeter and the bandoneonist from the Marche, creators of a dialogue in music in the name of air instruments and a lyricism with Mediterranean aromas; a meeting on the edge of intimacy and a fruitful interplay, between jazz, tango, references to Sardinian tradition, sacred and operatic music. All offered with the extraordinary essence of a Sicilian Symphony Orchestra that seems tailor-made to make the theme magical. – photo Agenzia Fotogramma – (ITALPRESS). vbo/com 16-Apr-24 10:45 .
